Work in progress

🏊

The builder came out and drew out our hopes and dreams in spray paint. As he followed the lines on his paper and geometrically mapped out the ideas we quietly dreamed that we’d be jumping into some cold water soon! POOL PARTY!

But this also gave us the opportunity to see a layout of what we wanted. As with all things, what we didn’t want. We lean on friends and family (sometimes too often!) but this time B&M thank you! We met with some friends when our plans were drawn out and asked their advice and comments. They asked if the pool was too close to the porch. We addressed this with the builder and when we made it to the showroom and saw everything on the big screen we were fine and happy. That is until we noticed as we sat on the porch we could SPIT right into the pool. It was too close! We have acres of land and for whatever reason we were trying to keep that pool too close to the house. There were a few other issues we came up with and changes to the layout that we requested. But it’s nice to know that we are dealing with a company that hears our concerns and is ready to react and fix them.

So that old saying “back to the drawing board”. I guess is right.

Lending wise, we also made it into underwriting. So we should hear back from them next week. We bought a few houses, all of which were a bit more expensive than this pool loan. I might add we are looking into a home equity loan so the collateral is the home. Although, the amount of wants and demands this lender requests is crazy! We originally went with the builders lender. But he wasn't moving fast enough for us. So called a lender i work with in real estate. Hoping it works out. I’ll do a post on lending as we move ahead. For us the most important thing with lending was NOT TO TOUCH our house loan. I can pay extra and refi in the future if rates lower. But keeping our home loan untouched was necessary. But with a short time living in our newly built home we need to determine if we have the needed equity to make this happen. My preliminary numbers think we do! Wish us luck!
