As tears fall, the rain does not stop.

My tears are falling, as the rain does not stop

With all the recent devastation we are all a little taken back after this weekends events. With all natural disaster comes pain and destruction. Allow me to take a moment to pray for those with lost loved ones. To shed tears for those that are still waiting to hear. And to give thanks to all of those helpful men and woman out there helping.

As we all sat by the TV watching the floods this 4th of July we did get to celebrate with our family and friends and I am always grateful when we get to come together. We are a large military family and my husband has spent more than his fair share of holidays away from our family but when we are blessed to have him with us, its a good day.

But as I mentioned above the RAIN DID NOT STOP. We found ourselves with so much fallen rain in our home front that the gutters, the rain barrels NONE OF IT HELPED. The sides of our house were piling up with rain and as we continue to "decide" what we want to do with our backyard we are quickly reminded that we need a drainage system/french drains installed NOW! But this wasn't it. The amount of rain we quickly received not only filled the ground but our driveway was flowing with excess water. Which ended up taking out the rocks that lined our driveway. When we initially noticed the excess rain up by the home we all took buckets and a water sucker thingie* and helped to relocate the water AWAY from the house. During this process a lovely neighbor drove up in their tractor to let us know the rain had also washed away our drive.. so they were wanting to help. Jason left me with the boys and we continued as he left to deal with the next project.

#homeownership the fun, the ick, its life.

(This was after everyone started to help... but the rocks washed away down the road)

One day at a time, right?

* thingie- a word I use when I am unsure what I am actually talking about and simply used to describe a THING
