Our land is so beautiful and peaceful. We have trees that fill the front and backyard. We also sit pretty high in the subdivision and can see the world. However when you approach the top of the hill (which is where this build is taking place) it's so nice to see the blue sky painted across the build.
As the sticks (this is what the boys and I are calling the frame that is going up) are being placed we begin to see the rooms and walls grow. We also realize these walls are tall! The doors are tall! And with every new stick that is added I am falling MORE AND MORE IN LOVE! We decided on 9 feet ceilings and bumped up to 11 feet in the living room. What a great decision we made.
When you are building a home, a true custom build, you are in charge of everything. You hire professionals that will help you, and hopefully know more than you, but YOU ARE the deciding factor of EVERYTHING! We were very blessed when we created our floorplan. We had walked through MANY plans and had a few ideas of what we wanted. When we began drawing it the sales consultant really took us through rooms and walls to help us decide the little things that we were not always thinking of. For example, which way doors should swing.
But looking at things it's sorta funny. As you look at a slab and think IS THIS HOME BIG ENOUGH? Then fast forward to a frame and can only see how large everything is becoming. It's still a little difficult to describe to the kids the rooms and how the floor plan flows. But soon they will see.
