The FLOOR PLAN To Your Dream Home

The FLOOR PLAN To Your Dream Home

So now is the design time! Will it be one story? Two? What is important to you in a home? When we sat down and thought about these questions here’s what we came up with:

Must have for the Ward's

  • One story home
  • 3 bedroom
  • Additional Study
  • Game/media room
  • Open living to kitchen
  • Large breakfast nook (no dining)
  • Large laundry
  • 3 car garage
Then we made a list of wants:
  • 1/2 bath closer to the backyard
  • LARGE LAUNDRY
  • I do not like to walk into laundry from garage
  • POOL!
  • Separate garage
  • Large windows in the back
  • Huge closet in master
  • Fireplace outside with outdoor kitchen
  • Boys room with connecting bathroom
  • Wine room

Then we had a come to Jesus moment and realized our eyes may be a little bigger than our budgets and maybe some of this can wait until after the house is built.

  • We need a separate garage for the trailer. So this is high up on the list.
  • A POOL can wait.
  • We wouldn't really use a fireplace anyway.
  • Although a WINE CLOSET sounds wonderful... how often would this be used?

But other things... we wanted NOW. So 7 years later. Yes, we purchased this lot of ours 7 years ago *** yeah for equity! We decided we didn't care what the market looked like. We didn't care how lumber had increased. We didn't care if things were taking longer to come in. We were ready and nothing was going to stop us now. Plus, we decided last year we were ready and we dragged our feet, so like all good real estate agents say... "NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY". Rates were low and we were going to make a little more on the sale of our home, it was a win, win. We decided to dive into the cool water. LET'S DO THIS!

For us it all started with a drawing on a napkin. From there we altered, we added, we moved. Then we reviewed builders plans to see if we could find something that we liked (the idea of paying a few extra thousand for an architect to draw up something that was already made wasn't in our plan). So we explored current plans to find one that worked for us then EDITED IT! We talked to many builders. We sat down with them and drew up our ideas. We even had a few quote out the home for us. Each time we came back to ONE BUILDER. Each time we imagined ONE FLOOR PLAN. So we sat back down with this builder (scheduled an appointment to really touch base with our wants) and designed our floor plan. It was explained that the floor plan would go to the architect to build it and design it but our dreams were filing the white paper in BLACK, WHITE and RED ink.

We had officially decided to build. Let the deposit begin.
